How do I switch to the front-facing camera on a Microsoft Surface?

Microsoft Surface has two cameras, a front-facing and a rear-facing camera.

Whether you want to use the front or rear-facing camera, these devices can be managed and either enabled or disabled in the Device Manager settings on a Microsoft Surface device.

These settings are especially important when trying to utilize the record functionality of Vidyard GoVideo for Outlook

  1. Open Windows Device Manager (Right click on the Windows menu, select Device Manager)
  2. Scroll down to System Devices; click to expand the menu.
  3. Double click on either Microsoft Camera Front or Microsoft Camera RearSteps on a Microsoft Surface device to either enable or disable front and rear cameras
  4. Select Enable Device on the camera that you want to use; Select Disable Device on the other.

Return to the Vidyard GoVideo app in Outlook and ensure that the change to your camera settings worked.
