Overview
Although it's not possible to make an inline player automatically enter fullscreen mode on load, you can increase the player's size so that it takes up a bigger area of the window, or use a player's iframe source URL. Both of these options will be discussed in this article.
Resize Solution
Most modern videos will be set to a 16:9 widescreen format. The largest resolution that you can use in Vidyard is currently 1080p, so it's recommended to set the player size on a page to be no greater than 1920px width x 1080px height.
If you have uploaded a 720p video, the maximum recommended size would be 1280px width x 720px height.
If you are not sure what the aspect ratio of your video is, you can resize your player to match the dimensions of your video, then adjust the player size to maintain the aspect ratio. Many popular desktop video players such as QuickTime or VLC can provide you with the dimensions of the video. MediaInfo will also display the dimensions of the video as well as the aspect ratio.
- Hover over the player and click Settings
- Select the Design Tab
- Configure the Embed Size (eg. 1920px by 1080px)
- Click Save
- Embed the player onto your domain or check the sharing page
iframe source URL Solution
You could also direct your viewer to the source of our iframe code which follows the format of:
https://play.vidyard.com/[UUID]
e.g. play.vidyard.com/cj13Jen3Qf2BDwbJGqrZXA
This will automatically show a player within a browser window at the maximum size possible, whilst also taking into consideration the aspect ratio.
Note: A play.vidyard.com URL will not contain any integration codes that have been set up for your Branded Sharing Page, but it will still gather analytics for Vidyard Player Insights/Contact Centre.
