Vidyard's YouTube integration is a great tool to ensure that your content is visible in multiple channels.
In some cases, you may wish to replace a video in a player if a newer version is available but keep the view counts where possible.
Vidyard will never delete content from YouTube, even if the linked video is deleted on Vidyard.
If you are replacing a video in a player, then as long as you do not delete the old video as part of this process, a link will remain between that video and YouTube. Therefore you will see the YouTube view counts for this video continue to arrive in the Player Insights Visitor graph when YouTube/All Views is selected in the drop-down.
Note: Ensure that you push the new video to YouTube as part of this process.
You may want to consider renaming the old video in Vidyard so that it's clear that a newer version is available. This title will then sync to YouTube so that it's also clear that there is a more up to date version available.
Also, consider adding a link to the newer video in the video description. An example is shown below:
Note: You will not be able to transfer the 'view counts' between the videos on YouTube, but the Vidyard player will keep the total views if you are swapping videos.
