Internet Explorer 11 allows users to view websites in compatibility mode.
Compatibility mode is designed to resolve problems between IE11 and elements of the page that were designed to cooperate with previous versions of the browser.
Viewing websites in compatibility mode presents the opposite problem as well. Websites that are designed to operate well in IE11 may be stripped down or simplified if set to view in compatibility mode. As a result, any Vidyard player on the page may fail to load or prevent playback.
The Vidyard player supports playback in Internet Explorer 11, but not in IE v7 or 8. Viewing a webpage with a video in compatibility mode forces the Vidyard Player the load in an unsupported browser environment.
Remove the affected website from the compatibility mode list to allow playback.
Remove a website from compatibility view
- Open the settings menu in Internet Explorer (the cog wheel)
- Click on Compatibility View settings
- Select the website on which to you are attempting to view a video
- Click Remove
