You must have access to Slackbot to use Vidyard's MCP.

Vidyard's MCP app lets Slack access your Vidyard account, giving your Slackbot the ability to answer questions and take certain actions on your behalf. Get analytics, campaign information, and more right in Slack, or use the MCP to easily create and share videos.

This article will walk you through how to add Vidyard's MCP for Slack, what information the MCP can access, and how to manage your connection.

How to add Vidyard from Slack Marketplace

Before you can connect the MCP to your Slackbot, visit Slack's Marketplace and add the Vidyard app. If you can't add Vidyard to Slack, you may need app approval.

  1. Open Vidyard's page from the Slack Marketplace, then select Add to Slack Vidyard app page open in Slack Marketplace with option to add highlighted
  2. Choose the Slack account you want to add Vidyard to, then select Allow to finish

How to connect Vidyard's MCP using Slackbot

Once you've added the Vidyard app to Slack, you can connect it to your Slackbot, letting you ask questions about your Vidyard content, create new videos, and more.

For more information, see our section on what Vidyard's MCP can do.

  1. Open Slackbot in your Slack desktop app (or on the website), then ask it a Vidyard-related question

    • In the example below, we're requesting the view count for a specific Vidyard video

  2. Select Connect when Slack prompts you to link a Vidyard account Button to connect a Vidyard account to Slack highlighted in Slackbot window
  3. Select Continue to Vidyard to confirm the Slack account you want to connectScreen to connect to an external service with continue to Vidyard highlighted
  4. Confirm which Vidyard account you'd like to connect to Slack, then select Continue to go to the next step
List with Vidyard account selected and continue option highlighted
  5. Use the checkboxes to choose what Slack can see and do, then select Authorize to finish Slack permissions list with checkboxes and authorize button to finish connection process

After you authorize the connection, Slack will prompt you to allow it to call Vidyard's MCP service. Once you've given it permission, it can answer the question you asked it in Step 1 (see example below).

How do I use Vidyard's MCP in Slack?

Vidyard's MCP in Slack can perform different tasks and gather different information from Vidyard depending on your plan and what permissions you set when you connected your account. Just ask Slackbot to answer a question or take an action in your Vidyard account, and it'll use the MCP to help!

Here are just some examples of what the MCP can see and do. We're adding new functionality all the time!

  • Analytics - Get aggregated insights and breakdowns from your videos and your Vidyard Actions (CTAs).
  • Avatars - Get a list of your available avatars, create avatar videos, and check whether existing avatar videos have finished generating.
  • Campaigns - Find campaigns, get a list of videos they've generated, check their variables, and generate videos with them.
  • Videos - Get information on your videos, update them, see when they've finished processing, or add new videos (via recording or uploading).

You can see the list of tools Vidyard's MCP has access to via Slackbot on its Slack Marketplace page under Features.

How to manage your Vidyard MCP connection
