When you record a video with Vidyard, you can select whether to mirror (or not mirror) your camera input.
This setting is particularly useful if you want to flip your camera so that props with text, like a whiteboard, book or backdrop, are readable in your video.
Simply turn the Mirror Camera setting ON or OFF depending on the type of video you want to make and what feels more comfortable while recording.
Here's a quick breakdown of the Mirror Camera setting and some reasons why you might want to turn it ON or OFF:
Setting status | Benefit |
Mirror Camera (ON) |

Mirror Camera (OFF) |

Change the Mirror Camera setting
You can change the Mirror Camera setting in the recording preferences of whichever Vidyard tool you're using to make a video.
- Open the Vidyard browser extension
- Select the Mirror camera box just underneath the camera and microphone inputs.
- Start your recording!
- Open the Vidyard desktop app
- Select the Mirror camera box underneath the camera and microphone inputs
- Start your recording!
Note: the Mirror camera setting on the desktop app only applies to what you see while recording. The final video output is not mirrored.
- From your video library, select New > Record Video
- Select the Mirror camera box to turn the setting ON or OFF
- Start your recording!
The mobile app mirrors your camera by default while recording, but the final video output is not mirrored.
This matches the experience you'll have when you record a video with your mobile camera outside of Vidyard's app.
You cannot change this setting in the mobile app.
