You must be a Tech Admin in Gong to set up the MCP connection

Adding Vidyard’s MCP Client in Gong brings in critical video insights that help you plan and prepare. Once connected, you can use MCP tools to get the signals you need to take the next step.

This article will walk you through how to set up the connection between Gong and Vidyard, what information the MCP can access from Vidyard, and how to manage your MCP connections. Once you've connected Vidyard and Gong, you can start using your video data in areas like Gong Briefs.

Note: The information you can pull in from Vidyard depends on your plan. You can access only the data available in your tier.

How to set up the MCP connection in Gong

The setup between Gong and Vidyard happens entirely in Gong. We recommend signing in to your Vidyard account on another tab or window, as one of the steps below requires you to authenticate the Vidyard account you want to connect.

  1. Sign in to your Gong account
  2. Open the Admin Center from the main menu, then select MCP under the Ecosystem section

  3. Select New MCP client connection Button to add new MCP client connection highlighted under MCP Client tab
  4. Enter your connection details, then select Connect when finished
    • Connection name - We recommend Vidyard MCP, but you can name it anything your team will recognize
    • MCP Server URL - https://vidyard-mcp.gw.prod1.vidyard.com/
    • Authentication required - Keep this toggled on, as Vidyard’s connection requires a login.
    • Who can use this connection - Choose how your teams access Vidyard MCP, whether they all use a single Admin login (Shared access) or their own Vidyard login (Personal access). MCP Connection page with connection details filled out and connect button highlighted
  5. Authorize what Gong can see and do using the checkboxes provided, then select Authorize
    • If you are a part of multiple Vidyard accounts, you will be asked which you want to connect to the MCP before this step appears Gong MCP authorization settings with different checkboxes to allow Gong permissions
  6. Use the toggles to select which Tools Gong’s MCP can access in Vidyard, then select Save to finish
    • You can return here at any time to enable or disable Vidyard’s tools Vidyard MCP tool toggles highlighted that show what Gong can do with the MCP connection

Vidyard's MCP Tools

Gong’s MCP connection can do different tasks and get different information from Vidyard, depending on which Tools you have enabled.

  • Analytics - Get aggregated analytics and breakdowns from your videos and your Vidyard Actions (CTAs).
  • Avatars - See a list of your available Avatars, create avatar videos, and check whether existing avatar videos have finished generating.
  • Campaigns - Find campaigns, see a list of videos they’ve generated, check their variables, and generate videos with them.
  • Videos - Get information on your videos, update them, see when they’re finished processing, or add new videos (via recording or uploading).

For more detailed information, each Tool in Gong’s list explains what it does and whether it can Read (gather data) or Write (create something new).

How to manage your MCP connection

To make changes, disconnect, or remove the MCP connection altogether, select the menu button next to that connection in the list.

  • Edit - Change which Tools you have enabled, or what access the MCP has to your Vidyard account.
  • Disconnect - Removes the ability to use the MCP, but leaves it in the list so you can reconnect it later without starting from scratch.
  • Delete - Permanently removes the MCP connection (this cannot be undone). You can re-add it, but you will need to follow all the connection steps again.
