Want to create personalized videos without having to be camera-ready? Create a custom AI avatar of yourself, then sit back and make quality videos without all of the extra prep. To begin, all you need to do is ensure you have an AI Avatars license enabled for your user.
To get the best results, check out our best practices for creating a training video!
Create and train your new AI Avatar
To create your custom Avatar, you need to provide a video of yourself so that the AI can learn your face, voice, and gestures. Be naturally and authentically you in your video—it helps ensure you create an ideal avatar.
Once you've provided your training and consent videos, we'll start generating your avatar. This can take some time, so we'll notify you when the process is complete.
You can have up to 3 avatars active at once. To add a new avatar or re-create one, you'll need to delete an active avatar.
- Sign in to your Vidyard account, then select AI Avatars > New AI Avatar
- Watch the walkthrough if needed before going to the Next Step, then review and Agree to the End User Terms of Service and Biometric Data Privacy Notice
- Select Record Training Video, or Select Video from Library if you already have a suitable recording
- If you choose a video from your library, skip to step 5
- Ensure your environment is set up properly, then select Choose a Topic
- Choose the script topic you'd like to follow, then Start Recording your training video
- Review the checklist to make sure your video meets the success criteria for AI Avatar creation, then select Record Consent Video
- Your consent video proves you match the person in your training sample, preventing anyone from using your likeness without permission
- Select Start Recording, and read through the consent script provided, exactly as it appears
- Review your consent video if needed, then select Create My Avatar to finish
How to name your AI avatar
Once you've made your AI avatar, you can assign it with a name. Labeling your avatars helps you quickly select the right one when you're creating videos.
- Select AI Avatars from the main menu
- Select the menu button (3 dots) next to the avatar you want to name, then select Rename Avatar
- Enter a name for your AI Avatar, then select ✔️ when finished
How to delete an AI avatar
You can delete an avatar at any time by selecting the menu (3 dots) next to the avatar, and selecting Delete. Please note that deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Frequently asked questions
Is my consent video available in my Vidyard library?
No, your consent video is only used to create your AI Avatar, it is not visible in your library. This ensures that no one else can access it, and it can't be deleted by accident.
How long does it take to create my avatar?
It can take 3-4 hours to fully analyze your training video and train your custom avatar.
What happens to my avatar if I leave the account?
If you are removed from an account, your AI Avatar, training video, and consent video are deleted so that no one can create further videos with your likeness. Any previously created AI videos remain with the account.
Is my avatar available to anyone else in my account?
No, you are the only person that can create videos with your avatar.
Why did I get a notification saying my avatar creation failed?
Avatar creation can occasionally fail due to one or more of the following:
- poor input quality (make sure to follow our best practices)
- a problem with your consent video (for example if the person in your consent video doesn't match your avatar training video)
- your training video is under our minimum length of 90 seconds
- your training video is flagged for inappropriate content
If you run into any of these issues, please try recording or uploading a new training video with the list above in mind.
Why don't I see the option to create a custom avatar?
If you have the AI Avatars add-on in your account but don't see the option to create a custom avatar, you may not have a license assigned to your user. Check out the steps for how to assign AI Avatar licenses to your users.
