Want to make your custom AI Avatar's voice truly yours? You can edit different elements of your avatar's voice to match your identity, mood, or message. Change your voice speed, range of expression, and how polished the performance sounds, to make your avatar as uniquely you as possible.

How to edit an avatar's voice

You can change your custom avatars' voices at any time from your account's AI Avatars page.

  1. Sign in to your Vidyard account
  2. Select the menu button for the avatar you want to alter, then Edit Voice Vidyard AI Avatar with 3 dot menu open and Edit voice option selected
  3. Select your preferred voice model from the dropdown menu
    • v2 is more stable, and you can move the Settings sliders to customize your avatar's voice
    • v3 is a simpler, more expressive but experimental voice model (settings adjustments are not currently available on this model, so play around with your script to test voice changes)
  4. Change your preview script if necessary, and select play on the Voice Preview to see how your edits affect the avatar's sound
  5. Select Replace voice when finished Edit voice screen with dropdown menu and sliders to alter an avatar's voice patterns and replace their voice

V2 voice setting options

Below, you'll find a breakdown of how each voice slider in the v2 model's Settings affects your avatar, as well as how these options can be most helpful when creating AI videos.

Just so you know, we recommend avoiding extremes of either value on the sliders, as they can affect voice quality. To get the best results, please listen to the preview before choosing to replace your avatar's voice.

Speed

Voice speed slider set to the middle point

How quickly you want your avatar to speak.

  • Slower - More accessible, and better for more serious or information-heavy content
  • Faster - Lends itself to more dramatic, expressive performance; higher energy

Expression

Expression slider set to the middle point

The expressive, emotional level of your avatar's voice. A stable voice is less emotional but less likely to contain errors. Dramatic is more expressive, but can result in an odd-sounding voice at very high levels (for example, unrealistic speed changes or emotions that don't match what the avatar is saying).

  • More stable - Better for educational or information-heavy content, easier to understand
  • More dramatic - Ideal if you want to sound more bubbly or high-energy; can be good for first-touch sales content, or anywhere you want your avatar to be more lively

Polish

Polish slider set to the middle point

How closely the avatar matches your original voice recording (including background noise and audio quality). Lower polish means your avatar will sound more like the audio/voice in your training video, even if there were microphone pops or quality issues. Higher polish fine-tunes the audio, but at very high levels, it can alter your speech pattern or accent.

  • Lower polish - Can make your avatar sound more natural and relatable, keeping closer to your real speech patterns and delivery
  • Higher polish - Great if you don't have access to a high-quality mic, or if you were unable to find a quiet place to record your training video
