How Vidyard SEO Metatags work
Get noticed! Our embed codes can inject schema.org-compliant JSON-LD metatags into pages where you've embedded Vidyard videos. This allows search engine crawlers to index contextual information about the video, and lets AI bots and models provide better answers about your content.
You can find out more about how SEO Metatags optimize content for search, answer, and generative engines in our article on SEO, GEO, and AEO in Vidyard.
How do I get SEO Metatags enabled for my account?
To get started, reach out to your account's CSM to have the SEO Metatags feature enabled, or if you're a new customer, contact our Sales team.
How does the SEO Metatags feature work?
Once the SEO Metatags feature is enabled in Vidyard, we inject information about the video's content into the <head> tag of the webpage where your video lives. This applies to all current and future inline or lightbox embed codes.
What kinds of videos do metatags appear on?
Your videos must be embedded using either the inline or lightbox embed codes to have metatags. Iframes are not supported.
What is the page head?
There are two main sections to the structure of any HTML webpage: your page <head>, and your page <body>. Any content that is visible on your webpage lives in the <body>. Any public (but hidden) info about your page, such as your tracking cookies and page metadata, lives in the <head>.
Information in the <head> does not display on your webpage, but anyone can see it by inspecting your page's source code.
Because this information is public, search engines can crawl info in your page <head> for text used to index your website. This allows you to add extra info to your website without cluttering the page or slowing its performance. By adding metadata about your video content here, search engines can use that information to index your page for the content in your videos!
What info is injected into the page head?
Inspect a page with an embedded Vidyard video, and open the <head> tag. Look for <script type="application/ld+json"> to see all of the indexable metadata associated with your video.
The key metatags that help with SEO, GEO, and AEO are:
- "id": the UUID for your Vidyard video.
- "description": Your video's description, set in the video settings.
- "name": The title of your video, set in your video settings.
- "transcript": If you've added captions to your videos, the transcript text will appear here (up to a limit of 4000 characters).
- "keywords": Any tags that you've added to the video will appear here as keywords.
