How to add and manage audio files on your videos
To make your videos as accessible as possible, you can add multiple language tracks so that viewers can better understand your content. We support a wide range of languages to help your video reach a global audience.
Read through the steps below to learn how to add and manage audio files on your video, how to change languages in the Vidyard video player, and more.
How to upload additional audio files to your video
You can add your own audio files to your video from the edit page. If you label your audio file with the language code (e.g., name_es.mp3 for a Spanish file), we will automatically fill out the language for you. Need some help finding your language? Take a look at our full list of language codes.
- Select a video from your Vidyard library
- Select Upload under Audio
- Drag and drop your audio files or select them with the file picker, then select the correct language
- You can select the bin icon to remove any files you no longer want to add
- Select Confirm to add the audio files to your video
After you've added your files, select the menu (3 dots), then Preview the video with its new audio tracks. Once you've finished, you can Publish your audio tracks to add them to the video wherever it's been embedded or shared.
How to change audio tracks on the video player
On the Vidyard video player, you can access the list of available language tracks by selecting the Settings icon . From here, use the Audio dropdown menu to select a language.
This is how your viewers will select a language, and how you can preview different languages after uploading a new audio file.
How to manage an uploaded audio file
Want to make changes to an audio file you've added to a video? By opening that file's menu (3 dots), you can choose to:
- Update the file's language - Choose a different language label for an uploaded file
- Replace the language file - Upload a different file for that language
- Download a file - Get a copy of the file that was originally uploaded
If you've made any changes, select Confirm to save them to the video.
How to delete an audio file
To delete an audio file, open the menu (3 dots) next to one of the options, then select Delete to remove it. This action permanently deletes the file and removes it from the video's language options, so make sure you're choosing the correct file before confirming.
How to change the language for the video's original audio
When adding a video to Vidyard, we do our best to label that video's language under the Audio section. If the option we display is incorrect, select Update language, then choose the correct option from the list.

What if my language doesn't appear in the list?
If you want to add a language that isn't on our list, please reach out and let us know! We may be able to add support for it in the future.
Can I upload a video that has multiple audio files within it?
Yes, you can upload a video with audio tracks as part of the video file, and those language options will appear in the player's audio list in the same way they would if you added them on the platform.
We currently support H.264, .AAC, and .MP4 formats for these types of video uploads.
Can I add new tracks to an audio-only upload in Vidyard
If you've uploaded an audio-only file to Vidyard (e.g., a podcast, audiobook, sound clips, etc.), you can't currently add more audio language files. You can only add audio files to videos.
Do you support adding descriptive audio tracks?
We currently only support descriptive audio tracks that are added to video files before being uploaded to Vidyard.
To do this, add your audio track to the video file in external software, then upload that video to Vidyard. You will see the option available in the player's audio list.
