Customize your video design settings
Video design settings allow you to customize and control how viewers experience and interact with your videos.
You can use design settings to:
- customize the colors on the video player (the play button, progress bar, and other video controls)
- change which controls are available to viewers (captions, playback speed)
- change which sharing options are available to viewers (social channels, email, embed codes)
- modify the video playback experience (with settings like autoplay)
Applying design settings to your videos
You can apply designs settings to your videos in 2 different ways:
- 👉 As a default folder setting (allows you to apply settings to the videos across 1 or more folders in the account)
- 👉 To an individual video (allows you to adjust design settings unique to a specific video)
Defaults allow you to easily apply consistent settings to videos across 1 or more folders in your account.
For example, you might apply your design preferences as a default to ensure that the all videos in a folder match the colors in your brand guidelines or that captions are always set to appear automatically.
- Select the Library button from the navigation menu

Select the folder where you want to apply the default settings
- If necessary, use the folder menu to change the folder that you're currently in

Click on the setting button next the folder name, then select Settings
- Select Player Design under the General tab, then select the Edit button
You can adjust the design settings on a specific video in your library. This may require to you override the default settings in order to configure unique design settings that differ from the rest of the videos in the folder.

Click on title of a video to open the edit page
- Under the Settings tab, click on Player Design

Customize the visual design of your video
Change the colors on your video player
There are three areas of the video player where you can change the color: the play button, the player controls, and the background color.
The play button sits overtop of the video thumbnail before your viewer clicks play. It indicates to the viewer that the thumbnail image is actually a video.
The player controls appear whenever the viewer hovers over the video during playback. These include the play and pause button, the video progress bar, as well as the settings to enter fullscreen mode, adjust the volume, and manage the video quality, playback speed and captions (if these have been enabled).
- Open the Design menu to begin

Select the color dropdown tool to change the color of the play button or the player controls
- Use the color palette to select a color you like
- Alternatively, enter a Hex Code or RGB value to select a precise color
The video background color applies to the "empty space" that appears whenever the aspect ratio of the video differs from the size of the embedded player (e.g. think about a vertical video recorded on a mobile device).
Open the dropdown menu to select a background color of black, white or transparent.
Add the name of your video to the player
Switch the Video Name toggle to ON to add the name of your video to the player. The name appears in the top right-hand corner whenever the viewer hovers over the video during playback to reveal the controls.
Show the viewer's current play time and video length
Switch the Video Time toggle to ON to show viewers their current play time and the total duration of the video (in minutes:seconds).
Video Time appears as a set of timestamps in the player control bar whenever the viewer hovers over the video during playback.
Add a hover animation to the thumbnail
A hover animation makes the video thumbnail subtly "light up" whenever the viewer's cursor moves over the player on a page. This is a great way to draw attention to your video and entice your viewers to click play.
Switch the Thumbnail Hover Animation toggle to ON to enable this setting.
Change the player controls available to your viewers
The controls are the part of the player that allow your viewers to interact with the video and modify the playback experience to their preferences.
The player bar provides viewers with several different options, including the play/pause button, the progress bar, volume, the video quality settings, fullscreen button, as well as captions and playback speed (if enabled).
- Open the Controls menu to begin
- Use the toggles to enable or disable each setting (described below)

Change the share options available to your viewers
Adding a set of readily available sharing options to the player helps you to encourage viewers to re-share your video to their networks, increasing the reach of your message and the potential traffic to your video and webpages.
You can choose which sharing options are available to viewers from the player, including options to share via Email, to social accounts such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter, as well as to allow viewers to re-embed the video on their own webpages.
- Open the Share Options menu to begin
- Toggle Sharing to ON to add the share options button to your player
- Use the toggles to select the share options available to your viewers
Add a custom sharing link
By default, the sharing options on the player (i.e. Email, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn) links your viewers to the video's dedicated sharing page. A custom sharing link allows you to customize where the audiences referred to your video are directed.
For example, you might prefer that viewers watch the video within the context of your website or a custom landing page that you've designed.
- Toggle the Custom Sharing Link option to ON

Customize the playback behavior of your video
Use the options under the playback behavior menu to control the experience of how your video begins to play and what happens when it finishes.
Autoplay & Mute by Default
Toggle Autoplay to set your video to play automatically whenever a viewer lands on the page where the video is embedded.
Please note that autoplay with sound is currently blocked by default on mobile devices, Chrome and Safari. Videos will begin to play muted in browsers that do not allow autoplay with sound.
For the best experience across all devices, we recommend that you also enable the Mute by Default option as well as add captions to your video so that viewers can begin to follow the video immediately and then enable sound if they choose.
Select an end-of-video action
Use the End of Video dropdown menu to customize the action that the player takes once the video has come to end.

Video stops and remains at the final frame. The player bar remains active so that the viewer may continue to interact with the video. If a playlist, the video will stop and remain at the final frame of the last video in the list. |
| Loop | Automatically plays the video again from the beginning. If a playlist, the loop setting will begin from the first video in the list. |
| Redirect URL |
Directs the viewer to a custom web address. You also have the option to choose whether to redirect the full page to the given URL or display the webpage within the video container on the existing page. If enabled on a playlist, redirect occurs at the end of the last video in the list. |
Customize the behavior of a playlist
Playlists inherit the majority of their settings from the first video in the list, including the player colors, the available controls and share options, as well as behaviors like autoplay.
However, there are some settings unique to playlists that you may want to customize. These settings relate to how a viewer interacts with the multiple videos in the playlist.

Click on the title of a playlist in your library to open the edit page
- Scroll down to the Player Design section, then select Edit

Select an end-of-playlist action
Like the settings for an individual video, you can decide the action that takes place once the playlist comes to an end. These actions occurs specifically when the final video in the playlist finishes.
