Customer data retention and deletion practices
This article addresses common questions about Vidyard’s data retention and deletion practices. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us or check out our privacy policy.
How long will my Vidyard account stay open?
How long your account stays open depends on the type of Vidyard account you have.
For Teams or Enterprise plans, your account is considered open as long as you have an active subscription and you don’t have any overdue fees. If your subscription expires or is terminated in accordance with your agreement, your account and any data and content within your account will be deleted 90 days after expiration or termination.
For Free users, or users on Starter plans that cancel and revert to our Free plan, your account is considered inactive one year from the date of last sign-in, and your account and the data and content within it will be deleted in accordance with our policies. You will receive a notification 90 days before your account is scheduled to be deleted. If you log in to the platform prior to the deletion of your account, your account will remain active, and the one-year inactivity period will reset.
Will I be notified before my inactive account is deleted?
Yes, if your Free account becomes inactive, we’ll send out a notification 90 days before your account data is removed.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
If you request deletion of your account, all of your data on the Vidyard platform will be automatically and permanently deleted from Vidyard servers ninety (90) days after the termination/deactivation is effective. This data includes:
- All videos (AI or recorded) and playlists
- Actions, Avatars, Campaigns, sharing pages, etc.
- Any views, notifications, analytics, and identified contacts
If you’d like your data deleted sooner than 90 days after termination/deactivation, you can complete our Privacy Request Form.
Once your account is deleted, any videos that you’ve shared or embedded on a website will no longer be viewable, and you will no longer be able to log in to Vidyard (the website, browser extension, etc.).
Vidyard may also be required by applicable law and/or various government authorities to retain limited data (e.g., tax information) for specific periods to comply with such legal obligations.
Can I delete my own data?
You can delete some types of data on your account yourself, depending on your account type. The following articles outline how to delete specific types of data:
If you delete data within your Vidyard account, some data (such as video content) remains in our automated backups for an archive cycle of up to seven (7) days, in case of accidental deletion. If you need help recovering a video, please reach out to our Support team.
