How to use Vidyard for Salesforce Sales Engagement
With Vidyard’s browser extension, your team can record and share video messages directly from Salesforce Sales Engagement (formerly High Velocity Sales), including as part of their sales cadences.
When paired with Vidyard’s Salesforce CRM integration, you can then:
- Track video engagement on Lead & Contact records in Sales Engagement
- Use video data to create reports and target engaged leads in further cadences
Requirements
- You must have the Vidyard extension added to your browser (either Chrome or Edge)
- You must have access to Sales Engagement included in your Salesforce subscription
Share video in an email message
- In Sales Engagement, open a new email message for your lead or contact
- Click on the Vidyard icon to open your video library
-
Select one or more videos to share
- Selecting multiple videos creates a playlist
- To access your teams’ shared videos, click on Folders (applies to Business accounts)
- Click Share to add the video link & thumbnail to your email message
Record or upload a new video
If you want to create a new video for your lead or contact, you can record a brand new video directly in Sales Engagement or upload a video from your computer.
- In an email message, click on the Vidyard icon to open your video library
- Select New Video, then choose your preferred option
- Camera Recording
- Screen Recording
- Upload video
- If recording, select Start Recording to begin a new video
Once you’ve finished recording, you can change the video's title and select Share to add your video to the body of the email. If you need to change the video’s thumbnail or other settings like trim or captions, select Edit in Vidyard.
Getting notified when someone watches a video
Applies to Vidyard for Business (Essentials, Growth, Enterprise) accounts with the Salesforce integration
When you belong to a Vidyard account with the Salesforce integration, a tracking token is added to the sharing link for your videos (?vysfid={{{recipientRecordId}}}
) in Sales Engagement emails. The token allows you to identify the viewer and get notified when they watch your video.
You’ll get notified when a recipient watches your video in 3 locations:
- Your notifications feed in the browser extension
- An email to your user’s email address (dependent on your notifications preferences)
- The Video View list on your lead or contact record in Salesforce
Best practices for Sales managers
There are 2 ways that you can incorporate Vidyard into your team’s cadences and use of Sales Engagement:
- Suggest using video in your team’s email templates
- Add leads to new cadences based on video engagement data from Vidyard
Suggest using video in email templates
To encourage and remind your team to use video, add a placeholder in the body of any email templates that your team uses in common sales cadences (e.g. “[ADD VIDEO HERE]”).
You can create or update templates in Salesforce Lightning from either your email composer or the Email Templates page.
Use video engagement data from Vidyard in reports
To inform subsequent cadences for your team, you can build a report based on video engagement data from Vidyard’s Salesforce integration
For leads that are particularly engaged with videos, drop them into new targeted cadences for your team to follow-up on.
- Build a report in Sales Engagement to measure engagement with video (for example, leads or contacts that watch greater than 75% of a video).
- Save the report
- Select the dropdown arrow in the right-hand corner of your report, then click on Add to Sales Cadence

Can I add a video directly to an email template?
Yes, you can – but keep in mind that the video should be generic if you add it directly to a template, instead of suggesting a place in the email for team members to record and share their own unique personalized video.
To achieve this, we recommend adding the Email Campaign embed code for your video to the source HTML of your email template.
To ensure viewers who watch the video are identified, append the following query parameter & merge tag to the end of the video sharing link in the code: ?vysfid={{{Recipient.Id}}}
.
Example: share.vidyard.com/watch/gmg2BD2BD8ph3scU?vysfid={{{Recipient.Id}}}
Alternatively, after you use Vidyard to add a video to a new email message, save the email as a new template from the composer. Just make sure to edit the thumbnail image and text links with the vysfid
merge tag first.
Where do I find the Video Views list in Sales Engagement?
As part of Vidyard’s Salesforce Integration, your Salesforce admin should make sure to add Vidyard’s Custom Object to page layouts for contacts, leads and users.
If you don’t see the Video Views object on these records, get your Salesforce admin to check that this has been done.
