How to generate an AI video

Weighed down with deadlines and a heavy workload? Need to record something time-sensitive in a difficult location? Creating AI-generated videos can help you save time and effort when you need it the most.

You can choose to have your AI avatar read your script in full-screen mode or in a camera bubble on a background of your choice, such as a potential client's website. Use AI-generated videos to automate your outreach without sacrificing the personal touch for your contacts.

Create an AI video from your Vidyard library

1. Sign in to your Vidyard account, then select AI Avatars from the main menu
2. Select New AI Video, then Generate Single Video
   • You can also bulk generate videos with campaigns  
3. Select either a custom or stock avatar, then select Next
   • To use custom avatars, you need to have either the AI Avatars add-on or an Enterprise plan.
4. Choose your video format, then select Next
   • Avatar Only will be a selfie-style video, while Screen + Avatar will imitate a screen-sharing video using a background you select
     
5. Enter the script for your video, then select Next Step
   • Choose Provide Script to either write one from scratch (check out our tips & tricks), explore and select a template, or ask AI to generate a script for you. Once you’re finished, use the Audio Preview to hear how the script sounds with your custom avatar (not available for stock avatars).

   • Choose Record Audio when using a custom AI avatar to record a 1-minute clip of your voice that your custom avatar will lip-sync to

      

     Note: If you're writing a script, try to keep it in one paragraph. Including line breaks can affect the speech of your AI avatar.

     

6. Upload an image to use as your video background if you selected AI Avatar and Background in Step 3
   • We support JPG, JPEG, or PNG files up to 5mb, min. size of 1280x720
7. Enter a name for your video, then select Generate Video when finished

Once the video is generated, you'll see it in your browser extension and dashboard library marked with the AI icon.

Create an AI video from the Vidyard browser extension

If you want to create a quick video while browsing or use a specific website as your video background, you can use the Vidyard extension for Chrome or Edge to generate an AI video.

1. Open the Vidyard browser extension, then select AI Videos 
2. Choose Fullscreen AI Avatar or AI Avatar + Background, then select your preferred avatar
   • If you're creating a Fullscreen AI Avatar video, you can expand and move your camera bubble
3. Select Start Generating Video with AI 
   
4. Confirm that the website for your background is correct, then select Next
5. Enter your script (max 1000 characters), explore and choose a template, or ask AI to generate a script for you, then choose Next Step

6. Enter a name for your video, then select Generate when finished

Create an AI video in an email

You can easily generate AI videos with a full-screen avatar when sending emails from Gmail, Outlook, and more, without ever needing to leave the compose window.

1. Select the Vidyard icon from the toolbar of a new email message, then select AI Video
2. Choose an avatar, then select Start Generating AI Video
3. Enter the script you want your avatar to read, then select Next
4. Enter a title for your AI video, then select Generate when finished

Once your video is finished generating, you can preview it in your email window before sending it out. If you close the window for any reason, you'll be notified as soon as your video is ready.

Using templates in AI video scripts

If you choose to use a template when creating an AI video, you can make and save changes to that template or create a new template to use for future videos.

1. Select Explore templates when creating your AI video script
2. Select a template from your template library, then select Use template
3. Use the menu button (3 dots) next to the template name to either:
   • Change Templates to a different template
   • Save changes to the current template
   • Create a template with your edits by selecting Save as New Template
   • Clear your Template to start from scratch

Please note that saving changes to a template is permanent and cannot be undone.

Using your own audio in an AI video

When generating an AI video in the Vidyard dashboard with your custom avatar, you can record your own audio clip instead of writing a script. Your AI avatar will lip-sync with your audio the same way it would with written text. Recording your own audio is a great way to personalize your AI video without needing to be camera-ready!

Choose your preferred microphone from the dropdown menu, and select Record Audio to start. You can pause at any time and select Stop when finished.

Once you're done, you can listen to your audio clip with the Play and choose Next to continue generating your AI video, or Delete the clip and start over.

How long does it take to generate an AI video?

Processing times may vary, but generating an AI video can take up to 10 minutes per minute of video.

Can I write my script in a language other than English?

Can I record my own audio with a stock avatar?

No, you can only record audio for your own custom avatar, which uses your likeness.
