How to share Vidyard videos in Outlook

With Vidyard's add-in for Outlook (Office 365), you can record and share videos directly from your email inbox.

Once you've installed the add-in from the Microsoft app store, select Vidyard from a new email or thread to get started.

  • Access and share videos from your library in a new email or thread
  • Combine multiple videos into shareable playlists
  • Record or upload new videos from Outlook

Requirements

Sharing videos in an Outlook email

In Outlook, open the Vidyard add-in to access your library of videos. From there, you can select 1 or more videos to share in an email.

  1. In a new message or thread, first add your recipient(s) in the "To" field of the email
  2. Select Vidyard   to open your video library
  3. Select a 1 or more videos from your library to share
      • Selecting multiple videos creates a playlist
  4. Click on Share to add the video thumbnail and link to your email

Changing the order of videos in a playlist

If you select more than 1 video to create a playlist, you can change the order of the videos before adding it your email.

  1. At the bottom of your library, click on the "# Selected" button
  2. Use the up and down arrows to re-order the videos in the playlist

Selecting videos from a shared folder

Applies to: users in Business (Essentials, Growth, Enterprise) accounts

In addition to your personal library of videos, you can also select videos from any shared folders that you have access to in Vidyard. 

  1. Click on Folders at the top of the Vidyard add-in
  2. Pick a folder from the list to switch into
  3. Select any videos from the folder that you want to share

Record or upload a new video in Outlook

Need to send or respond to an email with a personal message? You can create a new video directly from Outlook (either camera or screen recording).

If you already have a video file on your computer, use Upload Video to add it to your library.

Note: the recording options available to you in Outlook differ by application (desktop app vs. Outlook.com).
  1. In a new email or thread, select the Vidyard add-in to open your video library
  2. Select New Video, then choose a recording option:
    • Camera Recording
    • Screen Recording
    • Upload Video
  3. Select Start Recording to begin

Once you’ve finished recording, you can change the video's title and select Share to add your video to the body of the email.

Need the make changes to your video before sharing? Click on Edit in Vidyard to change the thumbnail, trim your video, and other settings.

Recording options in Outlook by application/browser

The recording options available to you in Vidyard for Outlook (camera & screen recording) differ depending on which Outlook application that you're using.

  • Outlook on the web (Outlook.com)
  • Outlook for Windows or Mac (the desktop app)
Remember: you can always use the Vidyard browser extension or Desktop App to record new videos. Any new videos that you record will subsequently appear in Outlook for you to share.

How to sign in with a different Vidyard account

Signed in with the wrong Vidyard account? Select the down arrow next to the Vidyard logo, then select Sign out.

You can then sign in with a different set of credentials.
