How to use Actions (CTAs) in Vidyard Pro
With your Vidyard Pro subscription, you can add an Action (CTA) to your videos in order to increase engagement and drive next steps with your viewers.
There are 3 commons prompts that you can use in Pro to encourage a response to your video. You can ask viewers to:
- Schedule a meeting in your calendar (using a tool like Calendly or HubSpot Meetings)
- Open a link to visit a webpage (your website, a LinkedIn profile or Facebook page, etc)
- Reply with an email to your video
Here is a brief walkthrough video of Actions in Vidyard Pro:
Types of Actions in Vidyard Pro
In Vidyard Pro, you can use 2 different types of Actions: either an In-video action or a Share page action.
- In-video actions appear at the end of your videos, after the viewer finishes watching.
- Share page actions appear beneath your video on the sharing page
Both of these Action types apply to all the videos in your account as a global default.
Here's a quick breakdown of the differences:
Action type | Location | Description |
In-video | Appears at the end of your videos |
Give your viewers a next step to engage after they have finished watching a video. In-video actions can be skipped if you enable the setting to Allow viewers to skip this action. |
Share page | Appears beneath your videos on the sharing page |
Present your viewers with an immediate call-to-action that does not depend on them having finished watching the video. You can change the share page action's button and text color to match your branding. |
Turn on Actions for your videos
Open the Actions page in your account to get started. From there, you can customize both the in-video and share page Actions for your videos.
- Select the Actions icon from the main menu
- Open the menu for either an In-video or Share page action
- Switch the toggle to On. The Action will automatically apply to all videos in your account.
Choose a next step for your viewers
Once you've chosen your Action type (in-video or share page), select what you want your viewers do in response to your video. For either Action type, viewers can:
- Schedule a meeting in your calendar (using a tool like Calendly)
- Open a link to visit a webpage
- Reply with an email to your video
Available to: In-video or Share page Action
Use this option to link viewers to your Calendly, HubSpot, or other calendar management tool so they can book a meeting with you.
Simply select Schedule a meeting from the dropdown. Then, edit the body and button text and enter your calendar link in the appropriate field.
Available to: In-video or Share page Action
Use this option to direct your viewers to your website, Facebook page, LinkedIn profile, or any other external site.
Select Visit a Webpage from the dropdown menu. Then, edit the body and button text and enter the web address URL where you'd like to send your viewers.
Available to: In-video or Share page Action
Use this option to allow your viewers to respond to you directly via email.
Select Reply with an email from the dropdown menu. You can then customize the body and button text of the Action and enter a valid email address for your viewers to reply to.
When a viewer clicks on the Action, it will open a new message on their computer's default email client. Use the default email subject and body fields to pre-populate their email with a message.
Review your Action analytics
Want to know whether viewers are clicking on your Actions? Open the Insights for a video in your library to review how your Actions are performing.
Select the view badge next to a video to open its Insights. Alternatively, open the overflow menu nect to a video (the 3 dots), then select Video Insights.
In this section, remember to select a date range to filter for your results.
Within the selected date range, you'll see the total number of Action Clicks at the top of the page. You can also see which Action was clicked (in-video, share page or both) per view under the View Sessions section.
