Users must belong to a Team with the Edit videos permission enabled.

Tags and notes help add context to your video, both internally and externally, and tell others (both human and non-human) what the content is about.

  • Tags help allow search engines like Google (robots) to understand what your video is about and improve your ranking in search results. They also help you keep track of videos internally and allow you to add groups of videos to your Vidyard hubs.

  • Internal notes are for you and your team only. Use notes to jot down helpful info about your video, like version numbers, campaign IDs, instructions for sharing—anything you need to communicate with other Vidyard users or keep track of.

Edit a video's tags and notes

  1. Select a video from your library to open the edit page
  2. Select the dropdown arrow next to Tags and Internal Notes
  3. Add notes or tags as needed

About tags

Tags let you add keywords to your videos and playlists, making it easy to search and find videos in your library.

Tags also improve the discoverability of your embedded videos. When search engines crawl your webpage, video tags are indexed along with the video name, description, and caption transcripts.

Additional benefits of tags:

To add tags to a video or playlist:

  1. Select a video or playlist from your library
  2. Select the dropdown arrow next to Tags and Internal Notes
  3. Select + Add Tag to enter a keyword
  4. Press either Return or Tab on your keyboard to add the tag
    • You can also copy and paste a comma-separated list if you would like to add multiple tags in bulk

Tag character limits

  • # of characters per tag: max 100
  • total combined # of tag characters per video: max 500
Note: A space actually counts as 3 characters, so try to avoid using multiple tags with separated words.

About internal notes

Notes are a great way to provide additional information about a video to other team members. Only users who belong to a Team with the Edit videos permission can see internal notes.

You might use internal notes to:

  • List the version number of the video, or your marketing campaign IDs
  • Note who last edited the video, what was changed, and on what date
  • Include instructions for others on where and how to share the video (what channels, messaging, and hashtags, etc)
  • Add reminders to update the video (e.g., "change logo at 1:32")

The Internal Notes field has a character limit of 5000. Angled brackets (either < or >) are not supported.
