How to change who has access to watch your video

On Business plans, users must have the Edit Videos permission enabled.

Whenever you share a link to your video, you control who has access to watch it.

By default, anyone with the sharing link can watch your video. However, you can always change your video's access settings to update who has permission to watch (public, anyone with the link, password only, and more).

Different access settings are available based on your Vidyard plan type (Free, Pro, and Business plans).

Change your video's access settings (Vidyard Free & Pro)

  1. Sign in to your Vidyard account, then select Library
  2. Select  Share next to a video in your library
  3. Select Change 
  4. Choose an access setting for your video, then select Update to finish

The following table describes the different access settings available in Vidyard Free & Pro:

Setting Description
Public

Allow people to discover your video on Google and other search engines

*This setting enables a description field that you can use to add indexable information about your video 

Link Only Anyone with the link can access and watch your video
Password Protected

Applies to Vidyard Pro

Only people with a password can watch your video

Change your video's access settings (Vidyard Business plans)

  1. Sign in to your Vidyard account, then select Library
  2. Select the title of a video from your library to open the edit page
  3. Select  SharingAccess from the left-hand menu, then click on Change
  4. Select an access setting, then click Update to confirm

The following table describes the different access settings available in Vidyard Business accounts:

Setting Description
Public

Allow people to discover your video on Google and other search engines

On Vidyard Business plans, this setting is enabled in your sharing page settings (see search engine indexing)

Anyone with a link Anyone with the link can access and watch your video
Anyone with a password Only people with a password can watch your video
Only viewers within an IP address

Only people connected to a permitted IP address (or range of addresses) are allowed to watch your video

Only viewers within an IP address AND with a password Only people connected to a permitted IP address AND who have a password are allowed to watch your video
Only viewers with a secure platform

Only people authenticated to a secure platform (for example, your company's SSO identity provider) are allowed to watch your video

Reset access setting to the folder default

Applies to Business plans (Essentials, Growth, Enterprise)


For users in Vidyard Business accounts, videos may have a predetermined default access setting based on the folder where they are located.

If you've changed your video's access setting, you can easily reset it to use the folder default.

  1. Select the title of a video from your library to open the edit page
  2. Select  SharingAccess from the left-hand menu
  3. Select Change
  4. Select Reset to Default
